The author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to find that a bloodthirsty vampire is attacking the townspeople. Writer Gary Dauberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot is to make vampires scary again. He wants to get rid of the sexier, more romanticized undead that have infested pop culture for much of the past quarter century, thanks to everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

I loved the book when I read it in the 80’s and was looking forward to this movie but was disappointed
I’m not a purist and I don’t usually care about different interpretations of a fictional story, but the changes weren’t really the worst part, it would be boring storytelling and the movie just felt rushed. There was no character development, the acting was mediocre, although Alfre Woodard stood out and I wish he was featured more. because he was the best part of the movie for me, even though he was barely in it and I can’t say it enough, nothing happened in the story to keep me interested.
Unfortunately, a completely forgettable movie
A little backstory for anyone was nice, a real insight into a budding romance that helped us really feel the sadness of the main characters, anything but the boring scenes we get. Not recommended. Looking for something different to add to your watchlist?
