It follows a seemingly ordinary family with a dark secret: they are vampires. They decide not to drink blood despite their natural desires, but one day their truth is revealed. Based on the YA novel by popular author Matt Haig. In the steady modern British vampire film The Radleys, Kelly Macdonald and Damien Lewis, with teenage children Bo Bragason and Harry Baxendale, seem like an ordinary middle-class family on the Yorkshire coast… until the kids learn (the hard way) that they are actually all vampires (albeit teetotallers). Lewis’s active vampire brother (also played by Lewis) comes to their aid during this difficult period, but makes matters worse (by involving suspicious neighbor Shaun Parkes, who fears for the safety of Jay Lycurgo’s son). Director Euros Lyn and writer Talitha Stevenson may want this to be the first in a new Twilight-style series, but it lacks the necessary bite, flair and style. Average.
